About the Company
Sole Envie combines web 2.0 technology to facilitate user-design, a sophisticated mass customization supply chain and social shopping features to deliver a new paradigm in the shopping experience.
About the Founder
Monika Desai, Co-founder & CEO of Sole Envie, is a seasoned marketer with over 13 years of experience. Monika Desai’s decision to start a customized fashion company was born out of a lifetime of frustration of not being able to find shoes for her size 4 1/2 feet.
Determined to find a pair of shoes for her wedding, she designed and commissioned a pair of custom-made shoes. She fell in love with the experience of choosing the style, color, leather and accessory and seeing her design come to life. A born entrepreneur, she decided to turn the concept into a scalable business so women everywhere could experience the same thrill of designing their own shoes. Since then she has been working furiously to turn her idea into a reality.
The Bloggers
Karyn Polewaczyk is a 20-something spirit embracing all that Cambridge (and Boston) has to offer. When she’s not busy dashing down city sidewalks in her highest of heels, she enjoys skiing, Spanish wines and traveling, as well as contributing to her own budding blog, Karyn With a Whine.
Alyssa is a 22 year old college student obsessed with literature, her family and wonderful boyfriend, writing fiction, Ireland, her love of animals, and higher than high heels. She divides her time between college classes, traipsing around the barn, spending time with her boyfriend, shopping and taking long luxurious naps. When she’s not writing papers or swaddled within a cocoon of down comforters, she can often be found procrastinating through one of her favorite mediums: browsing the internet for beautiful shoes. Hoping to make what she affectionately terms “actual money” by writing novels for the rest of her life, Alyssa is so happy to be writing for Sole Envie about one of her greatest passions: anything fabulous she can wear on her feet. Alyssa can be found at her blog http://alyssaboston.wordpress.com, ripe with snarkiness, opinions, and affection for the city she loves.
ShoeGuru (aka Susan Allegretti) walks down the streets of Boston with one thing on her mind - shoes. All kinds of shoes, stiletto shoes, mary jane shoes, high heels, low heels, no heels, ankle boots, knee-high boots…well you get the picture. In her eyes, all shoes are created equally. She’s a college girl by day, but by night, you can spot her surfing the web, and searching for that perfect pair of pumps.
Regina’s love of fashion began at a very early age. By 21 months she had already begun to exhibit a keen sense of style and a fascination with shoes and accessories. Regina has spent the past 2 decades designing clothing and accessories at various companies in the New York fashion scene. An avid dancer (classical ballet and ballroom), Regina’s quest for the perfect shoe is a result of abusing her feet for far too many years in pointe shoes and ballroom shoes. She is confident that Sole Envie will be the answer to her blisters!
Gal Friday (aka Allison Smith) is a raving lunatic when it comes to shoes. She spends all her excess money (approximately $13.45) on shoes, to the point where she is considering buying a spare apartment to house them all.Unfortunately she can’t, because she has spent all her money on shoes. She recently graduated from Tufts University (probably due to some clerical error) with a B.F.A. in graphic design. She uses her immense graphic design skills to sit around all day watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent and pretending to be looking for jobs. Actually, she’s a pretty good graphic designer, and has worked for clients such as Sports Illustrated and Best Buy. She is an aspiring entrepreneur, who has her own line of greeting cards (which you can check out at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6183148) and who does both freelance writing and illustration. She recently had her first short story published in the New York Press, which resulted in her doing a happy little dance around her living room and then going out and buying a new pair of boots. She is overjoyed that she gets to spend at least part of her time writing about shoes, which is almost as good as buying them.
